Panny's Amazing World of Chocolate
The Phillip Island Chocolate Factory in Newhaven has been operational since 2006, however recently it became host to an extraordinary exhibition about chocolate.
The exhibition follows the entire story of cocoa and chocolate.
Starting from the growing of the cocoa and how it is dried and shipped throughout the world, the exhibition then allows users to see how it is processed into chocolate before being turned into all sorts of amazing creations.
As well as traditional chocolate treats that visitors can watch being made in Panny's kitchens, the chocolate is put to a range of most unusual uses in the exhibition area.
These include a full size statue of Michealangelo's David, a 12000 piece mosaic of Dame Edna Everage and chocolate versions of Sidney Nolan's "Ned Kelly" and Edvard Munch's "The Scream".
In addition there is a four and a half metre long by one and a half metre wide model village made entirely of dark, milk and white chocolate plus a range of confectionary such as candy canes and jelly crystals; a one tonne block of solid chocolate that visitors can attempt to counter balance on a giant set of scales; and a four metre long by two metre high waterfall of 100's of litres of flowing molten chocolate.
Visitors then get the opportunity to make their own shapes and patterns on a chocolate machine called "Squirl" (and eat them), watch chocolate being carved by a computerised carving machine and finally make their own unusual bars and outrageous flavour combinations.
The Phillip Island Chocolate Factory and Panny's Amazing World of Chocolate are now major attractions on Phillip Island.
